Secondary treatment of domestic wastewater using the extended oxidation activated sludge process
DESCRIPTION
OXITANK – SBR System
Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) biological activated sludge system, consisting of the following stages:
- Pre-treatment (or primary treatment)
- Homogenization and flow equalization
- SBR extended oxidation
- Treated wastewater discharge
Oxidation is carried out by blowing air produced by one or more electric blowers. The discharge of the treated wastewater, as well as the transfer from the equalization compartment to the SBR compartment, occurs in sequential cycles via electric pumps located in the upper part of the SBR tank.

Sludge recirculation is ensured by one or more air lifts. Oxidation is carried out by blowing air produced by one or more electric blowers. The discharge of the treated wastewater, as well as the passage from one treatment stage to another, occurs by gravity.
The systems are capable of producing an effluent that complies with the quality standards required by national legislation (Legislative Decree 152/99 and subsequent amendments), and can optionally be integrated with dephosphatation, clarification-flocculation, and disinfection stages.
