IMHOFF

Primary treatment of civil wastewater.

DESCRIPTION

The Imhoff-type septic tank is a primary treatment tank for wastewater from small civil users. It must contain two clearly distinct compartments: one (located above) for sedimentation, and one (located below) for the accumulation and anaerobic digestion of settled sludge.

The sizing parameters for the two compartments mentioned above are generally as follows:

  • Sedimentation: 40/60 L/PE
  • Digestion: 100/200 L/PE

The purification efficiency of the Imhoff tank, when correctly sized, allows the following reductions to be achieved:

  • BOD5: 25/30%
  • TSS: 55/60%

Scope of use

  • Civil wastewater treatment plants
